The Ministry of External Affairs is the Indian government agency responsible for India’s foreign relations. The Minister of External Affairs, currently SM Krishna, holds Cabinet rank as a member of the Council of Ministers. In 2006, the Ministry established a new Public Diplomacy Division to “educate and influence global and domestic opinion on key policy issues and project a better image of the country commensurate with its rising international standing.”
